Time and again, we hear the adage "Age is just a number."
It is. But let's admit it, people's expectations are heavily dependent on this number. In our twenties, we are expected to be armed with a college degree and building a career. In our thirties, we should be having our own families. In our forties, we are expected to be successful and doing more of what we love.
I, Ross Thornton, am 42 years old. I am enjoying my job as an Audit Manager in an accounting firm. I am married to an amazing woman, with whom I have 2 teenage sons and a 9-year-old daughter.
With where I am, I may be meeting most standards. But that is not where my happiness lies. I am a big believer than whatever age we are in, we must strive for genuine happiness and not for people's approval.
